The study program is open to international doctoral candidates enrolled at Goethe University Frankfurt who are in the final stages of their PhD. Scholarships Applicants must demonstrate that they can complete their dissertation by 2025 or early 2026. Candidates must not hold full-time or substantial employment during the scholarship period, though small-scale employment may be allowed under certain conditions.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Open to international doctoral candidates enrolled at Goethe University Frankfurt.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship is available for doctoral research in any subject offered at Goethe University.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Be international doctoral candidates at Goethe University Frankfurt.
  • Be in the final stages of their PhD and planning to complete their dissertation in 2025 or early 2026.
  • Not hold full-time or substantial employment at Goethe University or another employer during the scholarship period. (Small-scale employment may be permissible; refer to the FAQ for details.)
  • Submit all required application documents by the deadline.

How to Apply

  1. Completed application form
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV) and copy of the last academic degree (with grades)
  3. Faculty letter of admission as a PhD candidate at Goethe University Frankfurt
  4. Short essay (max. 2 pages) describing the dissertation project and including a completion timeline
  5. Letter of recommendation from the main supervisor, confirming the dissertation progress and expected submission date
